Aston Villa Women will be without key trio Ezri Konsa, Ollie Watkins, and Emiliano Martinez for the UEFA Super Cup game with PSG. Unai Emery wants to give them more time off on holiday. The trio has been linked with a move away from Villa this summer, with Konsa a possible target for Arsenal and Liverpool, Martinez pursued by Juventus, and suggestions Watkins could move to Turkey. However, Emery says the three Villa players have been given four weeks off, rather than three, due to their participation in the World Cup. “They are not here because they finished the season on July 19 and I gave them four weeks to rest and it is completely necessary,” Emery said at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday. “Of course, if they were here, maybe we will have many more chances, but at the same time, I think PSG will be in the same situation as us. We will prepare the game with players, even some young players, like we started with four weeks ago. Of course, they are favourites.” Aston Villa Women are currently 9th in the FA WSL, with 20 points from 22 games, and are 35 points behind leaders Manchester City W. They have scored 28 goals and conceded 48 this season, with a -20 goal difference.
